Fawaz Otun was missing from last Saturday's double-header friendly matches due to lingering pain on his right knee, following a knock he received in training about a week ago. As part of his recuperation, the VFC technical crew will keep him out of rigorous activities for a further one week, under the advice of medics.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Obinna Akuchie suffered a slight thigh strain while on duty yesterday against Eagles Eyes FC, and is expected to sit out training on Monday to complete his recovery process. The club medics  however insist the issue is far from serious, even though the safe-hands had to call for his substitution few minutes into the second half of Saturday's tune up game, which the Lions eventually won 3-1.

Coach Henry Makinwa is clearly banking on the recovery of the two key players, as the season fast approaches.

"The medics have assured they will both be fully fit in time for the season. These things happen. I also know it's been a rigourous session for all players but their resistance level has been enhanced, and I'm positive they will come out stronger. Indeed, every players is important for us" said the Uefa Pro Licensed coach, shortly after Saturday's double header.

The Lions of Naija are scheduled to play their NNL Group B1 season opener on Friday, February 11, 2022 against Bendel Insurance, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
