Defenders Godwin Ekpo and Jamiu Suleiman have resumed light training after picking up knocks within the past week.
Ekpo had played every of the Lions’ games this season prior to last week Wednesday when he knocked his knee in training, forcing him to miss Sunday’s home game against Shooting Stars.
Sulieman featured in Sunday's game, but struggled for the later part of the second half with a back strain, and had to sit out training on Monday.
Meanwhile, midfielder Saheed Obisesam who made his second VFC appearance on Sunday, is back to full training after being forced off the game with a back strain, following a collision with Sulieiman in the 47th minute.
According to coach Tony Bolus, all three players are expected to be back to full fitness before the game against neighbours Stationary Stores this Saturday.
"We’re hopeful Ekpo would recuperate fully this week. It was his knee that was affected during training and we are making sure we don’t see any of such mishaps in training before Saturday’s game. Jamiu and Saheed had a good game on Sunday, and thankfully the medics have said they could be available for the next game. We need all our players fit for the task ahead of us” says Bolus, who spoke after today’s training session at the Soccer Temple.
The Lions begin their climb off the drop zone with this weekend’s date against Stationary Stores, which they beat 2-0 in the first round of the League.
The game which would be broadcast on VFC TV, kicks off by 16:00 Hrs GMT on Saturday May 15, at the Soccer Temple, Agege- Lagos.
