The Lions are on the road again to take on 5th-placed Giant Brillars  on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the UNEC stadium, Enugu by 16:00 GMT.

The game is the last for both sides before the two-week mid-season break which commences on Monday April 18, 2022.

VFC have picked up four points from their last three matches, a home draw against Ibom Youths, a controversial loss at Ekiti, and most recently the exciting 2-0 home in against Campos FC last weekend.

The Lions have conceded three, and scored four times in these last three games - Isaac Saviour netting against Ibom Youth and Campos FC, Lekan Abdulsalam against Ekiti and Samuel Edoho against Campos FC. In all three games, VFC took the lead first. The 2-0 win against visiting Campos last weekend moved us up the ladder to 4th on the league table.

Meanwhile, Giant Brillars are pointless in their last two games, with their last points coming after the emphatic 4-0 home win against Ekiti United on March 26. So far this season, Brillars have won four, drawn one and lost five games and are currently placed 5th behind VFC with the same number of points - 13.

Brillars have scored a total of twelve goals and conceded ten on the road (none conceded at home) this season.

The Champions of Lagos beat Giant Brillars over two legs in the 2020/21 season, their first and second ever meetings.

Both meetings produced ten goals in total.

A 3-2 win by the Alfred Madaki-tutored VFC on March 21, 2021 courtesy a late goal by Ivo Júnior at the Soccer Temple, Agege; was followed by the same score line two months later - May 29 at The Cathedral, Enugu, this time with the Lions under a different coach - Tony Bolus.

Of all the six different goalscorers for Vandrezzer in this fixture, only Isaac Saviour is around for this third meeting: (Golden Udo-Iyang, Ekerete Udom, Ivo Junior, Kolawole Daniel, Akere Samuel, Isaac Saviour).

Forward Gideon Monday remains out following the mouth injury he suffered, after a violent kick by a Campos FC defender in our last home game. Abasifreke Effiong who also got a knock on his a right knee in the game, is equally rested for this game. Bassey Odiong (thigh strain), Somtochukwu Abraham (ankle) and defender Habeeb Olaitan (flu) are also out of the Matchday squad.

Meanwhile, following full recovery from malaria, Saheed Obisesan makes a return to the squad for the first time since Matchday 4, where he gave the assist for Isaac Saviour’s 40-yarder against Osun United.
