VFC Player Of The Month of May, Isaac Saviour has reiterated that his driving force for performance remains the Vandrezzer FC badge.

The attacking midfielder helped the Lions to three successive victories last month where he also scored three spectacular goals, one of which was voted goal of the month - a sublime free kick against Ekiti United in Lagos on Match day 14.

Saviour, a fan favourite, has now won 3 Player of the Month and 4 Goal of the Month awards this season - a club record.

Despite the personal honours, the dazzling number 10 hints that he prioritizes the success of the team over personal ambition.

"The team comes first before my individual awards. I play for the badge, the individual award is just extra because the team is above above any other thing."

Reacting to last weekend’s 1-0 defeat suffered against Ibom Youths at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium which brought the Lions’ seven-game unbeaten run to an end, Saviour admitted he fell short of his personal expectations, but promised he and his teammates will make amends in the next game.

"We felt very bad about the result because the spirit of as very high and we were confident of getting at least a point. Personally I missed three glaring chances and I felt very bad that I couldn't convert any of them because they were within my range. But that’s football, and I am trying hard to put it behind me.”

"We are still very confident that we can make it to the top spot, if we can get three games straight it will be the positive boost we need" he added.

Saviour is VFC’s top scorer this season with seven goals and currently one of the most influential players for the Lions this season.

The Champions of Lagos remain 3rd on the NNL log, and are currently tuning up head of the Week 16 home clash against J. Atete on Friday, June 10, 2022 - two days before they resume their 2022 Lagos FA Cup campaign.
