IBOM ICON HOTEL BOSS CONSIDERS VANDREZZER FC CRITICAL TO AKWA IBOM TOURISM

The General Manager of the Ibom Icon and Golf Resort, Charles Muia has hinted that Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Vandrezzer FC is critical to Akwa Ibom's tourism industry.

In an interview in Uyo this week, Muia called for more private involvement in football as exemplified by Vandrezzer FC.

"Most clubs are government-sponsored or government-aided; but the time has come where we need to see more public-private partnership, or purely private ownership.

"I can't be more enthusiastically touched to see one of our own here, Vandrezzer FC, and this a good representation for others to follow in Africa".

Muia also spoke on the potential that abounds for tourism in Akwa Ibom State through Vandrezzer FC.

"The potential for tourism is big. And I look forward to a time where we can place Akwa Ibom in the right place in the world tourism map; and that is where we are going."

With the sporting infrastructure in Akwa Ibom State - the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Eket Stadium - Muia believes that the state will soon become the hub for top football matches in Nigeria.
