IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING OUR GAME AGAINST IBOM YOUTH

Dear Lions,

We have been reliably informed by the management of Teslim Balogun Stadium that there will be a funeral service by a large Christian religious organization holding inside the stadium, just before kick-off of our Nigeria National League (NNL) match against Ibom Youth FC on Friday, March 25, 2022.

The use of the stadium by the religious body, which was only communicated to us Wednesday evening, is expected to end at 14:00 GMT + 1, and does not leave enough time for our crew to clean up the stadium, disinfect and make it safe for use by our team, the away team, supporters, visitors and broadcast partners, who might all end up being exposed to the dreaded COVID-19 virus which survives on surfaces.

Our Matchday crew need considerable unencumbered time and free access to set up branding  in line with global standards which we adhere to, while our broadcast partners SME who apart from needing ample time, are also concerned about a safe environment to work with on the Matchday.

Putting all these into consideration, we wrote to the league management requesting shift of the Matchday 8 encounter against Ibom Youth to a latter date based on league interest, health and safety grounds, but our request has been denied.

Consequently, we would proceed to play the game behind CLOSED DOORS and WITHOUT LIVE BROADCAST. The decision, though painful, and the first of its kind for us, has been thoroughly considered, as we would not want to endanger the lives of our supporters. This is in addition to the resolve by our media partners not to broadcast a game without proper set up and safe environment.

While we apologize for any inconvenience this change might have caused, we want to make it clear that we are going ahead to play this game UNDER PROTEST, as a show of displeasure over the turn of events, which are inimical to the development of football in Nigeria.

You will however be able to get updates of the game via our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

For those who have subscribed for the broadcast and bought match tickets to be at our stadium this Friday, your subscription and ticket will be automatically transferred to our next home match.

You can also request a monetary refund via an email to info@vandrezzerfc.com, or WhatsApp message to the number +234 703 444 3601.
