Midfielder Anas Hassan is doubtful for Wednesday game against Gateway United, after the Flying Eagles star aggravated a toe injury picked up while in the national team camp.

Hassan had the injury treated and featured in all the Lions games since his return early June, but sprained the toe again during training on Monday, a development that might see him overlooked by coach Yemi Olanrewaju for the crucial game against Gateway.

Meanwhile captain Godwin Ekpo suffered a ligament strain in training last week and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The defender who has not featured prominently for the Lions this season following recovery from the hand injury he picked up last year, did not train with the rest of the squad in about  a week, as he continues his recovery process.

"Captain Ekpo has a ligament strain and out for the season. Anas too is complaining about a toe injury he got from the national team. However they are both receiving treatment and would soon be fine" said coach Olanrewaju.

"Almost anyone in the squad is in line to play, if someone is injured it’s an opportunity for another to step in and get the job done for the club. Not for me but for the club, they owe the club that pays their salaries the best and I’m happy they know. The rest of the squad is injury free and we’re good to go" he added.
