JOY COMETH SUCCUMB TO VANDREZZER FOR A SECOND TIME

- Ivo, Uko displays steal the day for VFC

VFC continued an unbeaten run since moving to Lagos with a 2-1 win over Joy Cometh FC on Wednesday.

Goals by Ivo Junior and Anietie Uko in each half cancelled out Adisa Daniel's 60th-minute thumping effort for Joy Cometh FC

First-half

It was a lively opening 15 minutes for us as we carried the confident approach VFC displayed in the 1-0 win over Remo Stars few days back.

Striker Ivo Junior was very lively in the early exchanges as he tested goalkeeper Labi Akinola with a well-taken free-kick. The Brazilian also drifted a 30-yard shot wide few minutes later.

Ivo, who was having his best game in a blue and white jersey since VFC moved to Lagos finally registered his name on the scoresheet with a thumping strike past goalkeeper Akinola in the 27th minute.

It was a goal VFC possession deserved as striker Golden Udoinyang had fired straight at the goalkeeper moments earlier.

Joy Cometh FC also had a good chance when our possession play faltered in midfield, however, VFC goalkeeper Daniel Emmanuel produced a top-class save to deny striker Olaniyi Taofeek as the first-half ended 1-0.

Second-half

The introduction of Michael Ipaye added more vibe to our attack and the electrifying winger almost created an assist with his first touch.

Ipaye’s direct running on the left-hand side created space for Ivo, who screwed the chance at the back post.

The next real threat fell to Golden Udoinyang, who fired straight at a defender as VFC searched for the second goal.

Our wastefulness in front of goal was punished in the 60th minute when winger Adisa Daniel guided a strike into the far post.

Coach Rafael Everton made a couple of changes after the equaliser and the breakthrough came from an unlikely source.

Defender Uko Anietie scored the winner with a wonder goal, having created room for himself to dispatch a clinical strike into the opposite corner.

The win means we have now won three of our four matches since moving to Lagos, with VFC's only draw coming against NPFL team MFM FC.
