Our Head Coach, Henry Makinwa has assured of an improved squad in the second stanza of the 2022 Nigeria National League starting on Friday against Giant Brillars.

The Lions are ready to take on the Enugu side at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos in the first game of the resumption after a three-week mid-season break.

Makinwa believes the team has improved from the first stanza of the league, correcting mistakes that have cost us points this season.

Speaking after the team’s final training session on Thursday ,he said: “We’ve done a lot to correct the mistakes of the first stanza and we hope to see a lot of improvement as we start the second round.”

Vandrezzer FC may play the remaining home matches this season behind closed doors due to the ongoing construction at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos, which will also prevent live broadcast of the matches. Makinwa says his team are ready to play despite the off-field setback.

“Everybody would like to see the stadium like a fiesta, we like people coming to cheer you up to victory, your fans and everybody, but Friday is going to be a different ball game because nobody is going to be in the stadium, which is sad indeed”

“But once the game kicks off, the whole scenario goes into our tactical preparations and that’s where we want to take the lead.”

Olalekan Abdulsalam was the hero in our last game against Giant Brillars in April, ensuring we maintain our unbeaten run in this fixture with an 80th minute equalizer in Enugu.

The players have been training hard ahead of the game and our gaffer says they are ready to hit the ground running, dismissing talks of vengeance from the visitors.

“There’s no vengeance in football, football is what you worked, what you know and what you can do, but we are ready, the boys are ready. Today (Thursday) in training, you could see they were united, sharp and ready for the game. Expect an improved Vandrezzer FC this season stanza.”

Vandrezzer FC vs Giant Brillars will take place on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos with kick-off by 16:00GMT. Follow all the buildup and match updates on our social media platforms.
