The Champions of Lagos are back in action on Friday, June 10, 2022, as they take on visiting J. Atete FC in a Week 16 fixture of the Nigeria National League (Southern Conference).

The game is the first since the Lions’ first slip in the season’s second stanza (against Ibom Youths in Ikot Ekpene), but head coach Henry Makinwa insists the boys have put the setback behind and are going all out on Friday.

“I love the fighting spirit of the lads, they never stay down. As a team, it has been our tradition to quickly move on from every game after proper analysis- whether it’s a win, loss or draw.”

The Lions are with 23 points from 15 games, and are seeking to close the gap to the top two teams with a win against tomorrow’s visitors who are currently second from bottom, and needing a win to get them out of relegation waters.

Makinwa admits it would be a tricky tie, but his team would be going all out for maximum points.

“We are not settling for anything less than 3 points. We know they (J Atete) are battling to leave the relegation waters so they will be very serious with us. But we would be more serious. Our strategies are in place, everyone is fit, and by God’s grace, it will be victory for us.”

J.Atete were held at home by VFC on March 20, 2022 at the Otu Jeremi stadium - the Lions’ first away point of the season.
