It's Matchday 16 of the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League and Vandrezzer FC (VFC) will be looking to back it two over two when they face Giant Brillars FC in their second leg.
The historic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu the State Capital, fondly called The Cathedral, will host the game on Saturday.
A win away from home will give VFC a fighting chance on the log, and the squad are in high spirits ahead of the clash.
With only 3 points separating both teams, Giant Brillars sit 6th on the log after amassing 20 points from 15 games.
The Enugu based club have been in shaky momentum but have managed to avoid the red zone on the table. In their last five matchups, they have managed three wins while they lost two, the latest being the 0-2 loss's at Ekiti United last weekend.
Meanwhile, visitors VFC would have to repeat the doggedness they displayed in the first leg at the Soccer Temple in March.
Coming off a much needed 2-1 win against Go Round FC at the Agege Stadium, the Lions will look to give their all to ensure a positive and favourable result against Giant Brillars.
Prior to the victory, VFC had lost four matches including the 3-2 loss to state rivals Stationery Stores FC in the Lagos Derby. These results currently place the team in 11th.
A win against Giant Brillars will put VFC on 20 points, and lift the team out of the red zone.
Players to Watch
Daniel Kolawole is certainly one to keep an eye on in this fixture.
Following his stellar performance in VFC's last match against Go-Round FC, Kolawole will look to continue the form to help Vandrezzer avoid the danger zone. Kolawole was the hero at the Soccer Temple with his brace.
For Giant Brillars, attacking midfielder Gideon Atoyebi is the man to watch. The former U-17 national team star is the midfield engine of the home side and gave them their last three points - the only goal in the last home match against Rovers FC.
Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two teams in the 2020/2021 NNL season.
The first leg ended 3-2 in favour of the Lions.
Coach Tony Bolus released a 18-man Matchday squad, retaining most of the players that prosecuted last week's home game. Defender Jamiu Suleiman is however did not make the trip to Enugu following a knock in training while Godwin Ekpo returns as captain after missing two games due to a leg strain.
Goalkeeper Segun Alabi retains his position in goal; the central defence pairing of Daniel Segun and Opara Abraham are set to start; so will Uko Anietie, Saviour Isaac and Akere Samuel in the midfield, while Daniel Kolawole and Babatunde Sikiru should marshal the Lions' attack
