VFC have won four of the last five matches in the league playing some great and exciting football. The Lions sit 7th on Group B1 table with 26 points, level with Delta Force (5th) and today's opponent, Nnewi United (6th).

While Nnewi United have won three of their last five matches, losing 1 and drawing the other. They look tight at the back, conceding three goals in the last five matches.


Two changes in the squad that beat Rovers FC on Thursday - Brazilian midfielder, Ivo Júnior makes a return after four weeks out with a shoulder injury and Kingsley Akpan also making the matchday squad.

Joshua Sunday is still out, but resumed light training with the squad as he recovers from the foot injury he sustained in training last Monday.

Jamie Sulieman (knee) out for a further two weeks. Noah Razaq (knee) out for one week and Lawrence Effiong is still out with a groin problem.

In their first and last meeting, Uko scored a stoppage time screamer in the reverse fixture at the Rojenny Stadium in Nnewi to salvage a point for VFC. The Lions struggled to build any momentum in the match because of the poor condition of the pitch but got a deserved draw after substitute Okoye Onyekachi opened the scoring for the home side in the 85th minute, but Uko's strike in the 94th minute ended the contest with a 1-1 scoreline.


Red hot Kolawole Daniel continued his fine run in front of goal on Thursday against Rovers FC with his 6 goals in the last 6 matches. He has taken his season tally to 7 in as many games.

Amos Okoro was also on target against Rovers, scoring his third of the campaign with VFC's fastest ever goal.

Midfield trio of Saheed Obisesan, Saviour Isaac and Anietie Uko is a match for any team in the division while full backs David Mark and Samuel Edoho are threats with their overlapping runs.
