A recent publication which portrayed that yesterday's NNL stakeholders meeting ratified the promotion of that 3SC, Crown FC, Niger Tornadoes and Kada City to the NPFL, has been labelled a blatant lie and figment of the writer's imagination.

According to one of the club officials present at the meeting:

"At no time did we agree on the promotion of any team to the NPFL. Infact yesterday's session was a prelude to today's meeting where decision will be taken over promotion or not"

Describing the publication as malicious and propaganda serving, the official who pleaded anonymity insists that "it's only after today's meeting that we will agree on the issue of promotion , or whether to truncate the league and restart next season".

"We want to avoid as much as possible, the issues with the NPFL. If majority agree on promotion, there are some formats to consider like PPG, Super 8 or completing the league out-rightly which can be achieved with the ease of lock-down. Ultimately, it should be a decision devoid of unnecessary politics, which has ruined our football. It's time to do football for business" he added.

Today's virtual meeting which kicks off by midday and expected to be attended by all NNL club presidents or their representatives, will feature a voting process on decision of promotion.  If majority vote for promotion, then part two of the session will be the meeting to decide the promotion format.

It however remains to be seen if the idea of having twenty four teams in the NPFL will be accepted by the NFF and LMC.
