The Nigeria National League Week 14 clash between Vandrezzer FC and Ekiti United has been called off, few minutes before its scheduled kickoff by 16:00 GMT today.

The game which has now been rescheduled to 09:00 Hrs on Saturday May 28, 2022, was moved due to the absence of the officiating referees, who are yet to arrive Lagos as at the time of this report.

According to the NNL appointed Match commisioner Mojisola Bello,  who is the only match official present, the no-show of the referees might be connected to their late appointment by the Nigerian Referees Association.

“I do not know who the referees are but I hear their appointment was made only today, which has made it impossible for them to arrive in time for the game. They did not attend the pre-match meeting and as I speak, they are yet to arrive Lagos. Consequently the game has been moved to 09:00 am tomorrow (Saturday)”said Mrs Bello.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Football Association has changed the venue of the game from the Teslim Balogun Stadium to the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

This change follows the scheduling of another activity on Saturday, causing it to be unavailable for the rescheduled fixture between VFC and Ekiti.

We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may have caused, as we promise to keep you updated with further developments concerning the game.
