Vandrezzer FC will on Sunday, July 31, 2022, close camp temporarily, pending the resumption of the Nigeria National League (NNL) for the completion of matches of 2021/2022 football season.

The decision was reached following a board meeting of the club on Friday, July 29, citing the aimless wait and uncertainty surrounding the completion of the league, which went on an indefinite break about two weeks ago, with just two matches remaining.

According to a memo to clubs dated July 15, 2022, the NNL management indefinitely postponed the Week 21 match between Ikorodu City and VFC (and all other matches slated for the weekend of July 16 & 17th); with a new date yet to be announced ever since.

The memo signed by the league body’s COO Emmanuel Adesanya, stated that the matches were placed on hold “to allow clubs that honoured their mid-week away matches to return to their base to prepare for their next game, given the critical stage of the 2021/2022 league season”. It added that a “new date shall be communicated”to clubs soon.

After a lengthy deliberation, the VFC board decided it was in the best interest of the club to go on break and regroup when the league body sorts out its issues, and decides to continue the already protracted league.

The earlier released fixtures time-table, slated the end of the league for July 2, 2022, but a series of postponements have seen the season now drag on with no definite end in sight - a situation which is taking a toll on every competing club in the league.

The Lions are currently 4th on the group B1 table, with two outstanding away matches against Ikorodu City and Bendel Insurance.
