We continued an impressive home run with a 3-2 win over Ekiti United on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Lagos.

Two goals from Isaac Saviour and one from Gideon Monday ensured the Lions grabbed all three points despite a late fight from the visitors.

Despite the postponement of the match on Friday and further delay in the kickoff on Saturday till 10:17 Hrs, the Lions started brightly and went in front just before the half hour in the 29th minute. VFC April Player of The Month Olalekan Abdulsalam found Gideon Monday with a beautiful pass close to the 18 yard box for a smart finish to give VFC the lead.

Midfield maestro Saviour Isaac scored his 6th goal of the NNL season, beating Ekiti United’s Sheyi Akinyemi on the edge of the box before releasing a thunderous strike with his right foot to double the lead in 42nd minute.

The visitors came back into the game in the second half, scoring a goal out of the blue. Richard Appor spotted Obinna Akuchie off his line and went for a long range strike with his left foot to pull one back for Ekiti United in the 53rd minute.

Nine minutes later, Gideon was brought down on the edge of the box, winning a free kick for the Lions, Isaac Saviour scored his second of the afternoon and his 7th of the season with a well taken freekick in the 62nd minute to restore our two goal lead.

Ekiti United responded three minutes later from a corner kick from George Adedara which Toluwase Anyonda scored to give Oluyemi Kayode boys their second goal.

Lekan had two opportunities to increase our lead in the closing stages of the game but could not convert any of his headers.

Vandrezzer FC continue to push up the ladder with another impressive win, reducing the gap to the top to just three points, sitting third with 23 points. The Lions won all three matches in May and have secured a 4th victory in their last five matches.
