Everything you need to know about Vandrezzer FC’s Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 16 fixture against J’Atete FC on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos by 16:00 GMT +1.

Despite last weekend’s derby loss to Ibom Youths FC in Ikot Ekpene, the Champions of Lagos retain 3rd spot in Group B1 following a run of good form which has culminated in 13 points from the last five matches. The Lions won all their matches last month, before that narrow defeat.

VFC are 10 points ahead of J’Atete who are occupying 11th place. The Lions have won six of their last 7 matches at home and are yet to lose a single game at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. Also, the Lions have scored 16 goals and conceded 6 in the 8 matches they have played at home.

Meanwhile, J’Atete have won just two matches all season and are yet to pick maximum points away from home, with only a point against Ikorodu City FC at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to show for their away troubles.

They’ve lost the last three away fixtures with an identical scoreline (1-0).

VFC made her NNL debut two years ago on the 30th of November, 2019 against J’Atete in Ugheli, losing 1-0 at the Otu Jeremi stadium. The return fixture was never played because of the season’s eventual cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted activities all over the world.

Their second meeting was earlier this season also at Otu Jeremi on March 19 - a goalless contest.

Midfielder Anas Hassan returned last weekend against Ibom Youths FC after over a month out on national assignment with the Flying Eagles which won gold at the WAFU tournament in Niger Republic. The dynamic midfielder is set to also feature today.

But there is no place for captain Godwin Ekpo and Kabiru Popoola in today’s squad, with coach Makinwa resting some players for Sunday’s FA Cup round of 32 fixture against Glorious Day FC/Cats FC.

Meanwhile fullback David Edet returns to the Matchday squad after about two months off.
