VANDREZZER VS GATEWAY MOVED, AS NNL SUSPEND LEAGUE FOR ONE MATCH DAY

The Nigeria National League management has postponed Friday’s Week 20 encounter between Vandrezzer FC and Gateway United of Abeokuta to next week.

This follows the league body’s decision to suspend the league by one matchday, to enable it “reappraise certain situations and developments in the league.”

A statement signed by NNL scribe Amar Ignis insists the move was imperative to ensure every club had a level playing ground, with just a handful of matches left for the season.

“The most important football league in Nigeria is looking at the possibility of ensuring a smooth, easy and fair end to the season which draws near.”

“Clubs are on the brink of gaining promotion to Nigeria's top flight, the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) and as well demotion to the lower run of domestic football in the country the Nation-Wide League One (NLO).

The pressure has become so intense in the battle for relegation and promotion, and NNL considers it imperative to go for a break, to enable it reappraise certain situations and developments in the league” the statement reads.

Consequently, VFC’s final three games automatically move to the following dates: vs Gateway on Friday, July 8 (H); vs Ikorodu City on Saturday, July 16 (A); and the final match of the season, an away game to Bendel Insurance, now moved from 16th to the 23rd of July.

This is the second fixtures’ adjustment by the NNL this season, which was originally scheduled to climax on July 2, 2022.

VFC management regrets inconveniences that may be caused by this latest development.
