For the very first time since inception of the club, Vandrezzer FC will play a competitive game without LIVE broadcast; and for the first time this season, we host our opponents in a closed-door game.
This is sequel to denial of the request to have our game shifted to a latter date, after the Teslim Balogun stadium management admitted a funeral programme in the stadium, with little time left for broadcast set up and proper cleaning.
Regardless, we are back at the home to face Ibom Youths FC today Friday, March 25, 2022, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00GMT +1.
The Lions are unbeaten in the last two matches following our 3-0 thrashing of Adoration FC, and the subsequent stalemate against J’Atete last weekend.
The point on the road moved VFC one place up the NNL Group B1 table to 6th with 9 points after seven matches.
Our opponent, Ibom Youths are with just one defeat this season - against Bendel Insurance. They are unbeaten in the last three matches, winning two and dropping points against Campos FC in Owerri.
Ibom Youths FC are also yet to win a game on the road this season, picking up three points on the road. The Akwa Ibom side are joint-top scorers in the league this season with VFC having scored nine goals, and currently occupy third-place on the Group B1 table with 12 points.
HEAD TO HEAD
This will be VFC’s first meeting with Ibom Youths FC in any competitive fixture, although the Lions faced them in a friendly match during our formation year in 2019. The two teams were then co-tenants of the Ikpene Stadium in Akwa Ibom.
After a successful recovery from a hip injury, forward Etiti Solomon makes his way back into the squad, while Uwem Charles replaces David Edet ,signifying the only two changes in the squad that faced J.Atete last weekend in Otu Jeremi, Delta State.
Obinna Akuchie, Daniel Eyibio, Bassey Odiong, Owolabi Ibrahim, Samuel Edoho(c), Kingsley Akpan, Oloye Felix, Opara Abraham, Habeeb Olaitan, Kabiru Popoola, Anas Hassan, Isaac Saviour, Fawaz Otun, Abasifreke Effiong, Olalekan Abdulalam, Gideon Monday, Etiti Solomon and Uwem Charles.
Considering the closed-door nature of the game, tickets already purchased for this game will be rolled over to our next home game against Campos FC on Friday, April 8, 2022.
There will also be no live broadcast, meaning subscriptions will be also transferred to the next home game.
Once again, inconveniences regarding match attendance and viewing are highly regretted. It is our fervent prayer and desire that football MUST be accorded its rightful place in Nigeria.
You can follow match build-up and updates via our social media platforms.
