VFC Development Squad (U-23) team ended their first season in the NLO in brilliant fashion as they beat Chimioski 2-0 on Sunday.

Second-half goals by Samuel Gabriel and Attah Idongesit ensured VFC Development Squad finished the NLO Port-Harcourt zone in 4th place.

In seven games played, VFC U23 won three, lost two and drew two to finish their debut campaign in the third tier with 12 points.

During the campaign, the young Lions of Naija produced some commendable performances. They were dogged in the 0-0 draw with Ojinmah FC of Enugu, while their comeback victory against Koulama FC on matchday five and their 3-1 bashing of Excellent FC on matchday one, were standout matches for the young Lions.

It's also a campaign to savour for the fans as many young talents made their mark. Sharp shooter Attah Idongesit was the driving force in attack as he finished the zone's leading scorer with five goals.

His ability to dribble past a player and shoot with either foot was a fierce weapon and his form could now see him get promoted to the senior team alongside other youngsters.

While Attah contributed *five* of the young Lions' eleven goals in the 2021 NLO campaign, captain Etido Dan also had a good outing scoring *three*, while another impressive attack sensation Solomon  Gabriel bagged the remaining *three* goals.

Meanwhile medics have confirmed that captain Etido Dan will take about four weeks to recover from the hamstring he suffered during the team's penultimate game against Ojinmah FC.

VFC DS return to base this week to continue further camping and training routines under the tutelage of coach Andrew Uwe.
