Born in Warri Delta state, Onyekachi is the third of eight children. Had his primary school education at Mowoe primary school and Hussey college Warri respectively. Studied GEOLOGY at the Enugu state university of science and technology (ESUT).
Onyekachi starred grassroots teams, Mowoe babes, and shooters FC in Warri before proceeding to launch his professional career after studies with The defunct Oceanboys FC of Yenegoa Bayelsa state in 2011. He was a revelation of the 2011 season that saw him attract call ups to various national teams, starting with the invitation to the Home-based Super Eagles camp for the Obama cup in the US. He was a regular face in the team of the week for five consecutive weeks and was also scouted by the  Augustin Eguavoen's tutored U23 side for the all African games qualifier against Liberia. Unable to make the cut for the games proper in Morroco, he moved to heartland FC in Owerri in 2012 where he won the Federation Cup. He joined Rangers international the following season and almost won the league title with Rangers, no thanks to in form kano pillar who snatched it on the final day of the season. Had a short spell on Libya with Khaleej Sirte FC. Returned home to sign for (Dolphinsfc)now Rivers united and starred in the CAF Confederation Cup with the team. Left for FC Ifeanyi Ubah the following season where he won the federation cup and also qualified the team for a place in the Caf confederation cup. He also won the champions of champions cup with Ifeanyi Ubah defeating Rangers FC at the Abuja national stadium. He's presently at Vandrezzer FC and he's the assistant captain.
He loves listening to Bongo music and he's an addicted writer. loves reading, swimming, and traveling. He's also a dedicated Christian and a humble Lion.
